How a One-Stop Shop Increased Engagement for David’s Bridal
David’s had a Runaway Bride problem — brides would buy a dress and never be seen again. The company wanted to stay engaged in every bride’s total wedding planning process and capture a larger share of the total budget — even after saying “Yes” to the dress.
We built an attractive, efficient, easy-to-navigate online bridal marketplace that enables visitors to quickly locate all the wedding products and services they need while increasing visibility, credibility, and potential sales for vendor partners.
David’s Bridal (“David’s”), the largest specialty bridal retailer in the nation, sells wedding dresses, prom gowns, and other formalwear both online and in brick-and-mortar stores from coast to coast. Begun as a small, family-owned salon in Fort Lauderdale in 1950, one in three brides now visit the superstore to shop for a dress for their big day.
Although David’s was dominating the wedding apparel market, the company wanted to do more than just provide clothing. David’s wanted to increase revenue by tapping into other wedding-related products and services such as cakes, jewelry, flowers, venues, and photographers.

President of Brand, Technology, and Finance for David’s Bridal
David’s came to EDJE with a simple idea — to create a website that could give brides and grooms direct access to a variety of wedding vendors. EDJE built an e-commerce platform and identified all the important details (including the creation of a content filtering workflow to monitor participating vendors). Pearl™ by David’s was born, and the one-of-a-kind online marketplace is a win for everyone involved:
EDJE used a collection of applications and computing services to create a sleek, intuitive, and efficient online bridal marketplace. The attractive, easy-to-navigate site enables visitors to quickly locate the products and services they need to create their perfect wedding day, while increasing visibility, credibility, and potential sales for David’s vendor partners.
To bring the vision to life, we leveraged
React / NodeJS / AWS Serverless / Capacitor / MySQL
This solution did more than just enable David’s to achieve its goal of increased revenue by capturing a larger share of each total wedding budget. It also enabled the company to:
Customers stay connected with David’s throughout the wedding planning process — long after they choose a dress.
Satisfied customers are more likely to choose David’s for non-wedding event needs such as proms or other special occasions.
By joining forces with David’s, smaller vendors enjoy a boost in credibility and reach a larger audience, ultimately increasing their revenue as well.
Pearl™ by David’s is just one example of how EDJE can help retailers extend their reach into other areas of their specialty market. If your business is looking to increase revenue while building mutually beneficial vendor partnerships, let’s talk. EDJE can create a customized solution to help your company achieve its financial, promotional, and collaborative marketing goals.
